TABOR   -   The Encampment

Tabor    is one of the most important towns of Czech history. Founded by the great Czech military warlord Jan Žižka, who was never defeated in battle, Tabor became the stronghold of the Hussites, followers of the Reformist Jan Hus, who struggled to reform the Catholic church a hundred years before Martin Luther.

Founded originally as a military encampment with all the considerations of defense, Tabor has catacombs underground for storage of everything needed to make it through a tough winter or a tough siege.

We will make a brief visit to see this original 16th century "encampment" on our way to the beautiful Vysochin Highlands.
